Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Develop and execute engineering strategies to support the company’s vision and technology scale
    up.
  • Provide advice, guidance, and authorization for major plans and procedures, in line with established policies.
  • Collaborate with the R&D team on designing and modeling process units for successful technology scale-up, including translating lab and pilot scale results into commercial plant designs.
  • Optimize unit operations in scale-up designs, balancing process requirements, economic factors, operator effectiveness, and safety considerations.
  • Project manage external engineering firms to advance engineering designs supporting technology scale-up.
  • Work with R&D, sales, and marketing to evaluate the competitiveness of new engineering technologies.
  • Lead and oversee engineering priorities, leveraging your expertise to inform technical decision making and experimental outcomes.
  • Perform mechanical design, heat transfer, chemical process modelling, and techno-economic analysis using industry software tools.
  • Mentor junior engineers and technicians in the technology scale-up process.

Education / Experience:

  • BS/MS with 15+ years of industrial experience, or PhD with 10+ years of industrial experience, in Chemical/Process Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
  • 5+ years in a technical management or leadership role preferred.
  • Direct experience in technical or operations roles within the downstream oil and gas, refining, petrochemical, pulp and paper, or related industries (EPC background)
  • Experience with scale-up, start-up, and operation of fluid bed reactors.
  • Demonstrated ability to design, model, optimize, and construct components for industrial chemical engineering systems.
  • Proficiency with CAD, chemical modeling, and advanced computational software.
  • Experience engaging with engineering, procurement, and construction firms.
  • Strong mentoring skills and experience in directing junior engineers and advancing their technical knowledge.
  • Excellent industry overview with a focus on leveraging reference cases and best practices.
