The Role:

The company is seeking a Head of Business Development and Sales to drive strategic growth and expand its national and international presence. This leadership role will involve building business development and sales strategies for their innovative electrolyser technology while collaborating closely with internal teams. The successful candidate will be a critical figure in shaping the company’s expansion into the green energy market, both representing the company at conferences and public appearances as well as building a pipeline to underpin the company’s production growth plans

Key Responsibilities:

  • Business Development Leadership: Lead efforts to identify the addressable markets, new business opportunities in hydrogen production, renewable energy, and decarbonization. Build strategic partnerships, establish and expand the customer base in these industries.
  • Sales Expansion: Develop and refine sales structures and processes, and actively engage potential partners at trade shows, conferences, and through digital channels to promote the company’s innovative technology to generate order intake.
  • Product Development Collaboration: Work closely with internal product teams to provide market insights and help shape the development of electrolysers, ensuring they meet industry demand and technological advancements.
  • Team Leadership & Development: Recruit, build, and lead a high-performing business development and sales team. Collaborate with the Head of Public Affairs to align strategies with the company’s public image and market advocacy.
  • Strategic Market Expansion: Develop and implement long-term business strategies, including sales forecasting, market entry plans, and partnership models, targeting clients in sectors focused on hydrogen and sustainable energy.
  • Industry Representation & Thought Leadership: Represent the company at industry events, conferences, and panels, positioning it as a thought leader in green hydrogen and the energy transition.
  • Cross-functional Collaboration: Coordinate with product development, marketing, and public affairs teams to ensure cohesive business strategies and smooth product launches.

Candidate Profile:

The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of business development in the renewable energy sector, with a particular focus on hydrogen production, energy storage, or clean energy solutions. A go-getter attitude and drive to win, they should be comfortable working with evolving technologies and leading teams in a dynamic environment.

Experience and Qualifications:

  • A technical or business degree, with at least 4–5 years of relevant experience in business development, sales, and/or key account management, particularly within the renewable energy or cleantech sectors.
  • Proven experience in energy storage, hydrogen or electrolysis technology space is highly desirable.
  • Has what it takes toto build and manage high-performing teams.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and presentation skills, with experience in public speaking or participating in industry events.
  • A strategic thinker who can balance hands-on execution with long-term growth initiatives.
  • Fluent in both German and English.
