BOSS Energy has been retained by a growing Clean Technology company seeking to hire seeking to hire an Engineer to scale up their polymer technology. The client is a developer of clean materials for fashion intended to combat climate change.
This role requires hands-on experience in lab-scale polymer synthesis and scale-up processes, as well as a deep understanding of textile applications.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct polymerization reactions of nylon 6 and nylon 6.6 using recycled monomers in both lab and pilot-scale settings.
- Develop and optimize processes for scaling polymer synthesis, working with internal resources and external partners.
- Oversee the operation of polymerization reactors, ensuring safety and efficiency in the lab and at partner facilities.
- Monitor advancements in polymer recycling and textile applications to inform and improve processes.
- Conduct characterization of polymers properties (NMR, DSC, TGA, rheology, etc).
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure the polymers meet quality standards for textile applications.
- Understand and integrate knowledge of end-use applications to tailor polymers for filament and yarn production.
Required Background:
- PhD or Master’s degree in Chemistry, Materials Science, Chemical Engineering or a related field.
- 3+ years of industry experience in polymer chemistry
- Hands-on experience with chemical process development, including working with reactors or external manufacturing partners.
- Strong plus is working in textile applications.
- Strong analytical skills with a data-driven approach to collecting and analysing results.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
- High energy, adaptability, and a bias for action.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills in English.
