BOSS Energy Consulting LTD – Senior Mechanical Design Engineer
BOSS Energy has been retained by a leading DAC business who are seeking a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to join their team in Germany. The business has developed a breakthrough, low temperature direct air capture (DAC) technology. Not only does this technology directly reduce carbon dioxide in the atmosphere, but its desorption process produces hydrogen, thus by catering to carbon utilization applications reducing dependency on fossil hydrocarbons closing the carbon loop.
Responsibilities:
- Own the end to end design of all systems within plant design, while mentoring guiding and growing a team of engineers who support you.
- Choose process components such as sensors, valves, pumps and vessels according to requirements and translate them into physical products.
- Manage mechanical design projects, including initial factory ideation, machine commissioning and eventual hand-off to manufacturing or test engineering.
- Own the process of creating component and assembly drawings, ensuring all customer requirements are met.
- Lead design reviews internally and externally with suppliers and customers.
- Responsible for project delivery timeline from the early design phase through to production, commissioning and maintenance.
Key Competencies:
- Minimum Bachelor’s in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
- Extensive experience in the field of plant engineering (Anlagenbau) or special machinery construction (Sondermaschinenbau) projects, especially those involving liquid mediums.
- Track record in applying Pressure Equipment Directive (DGRL, EN 13445, ASME), Operational Safety Ordinance (BetrSichV) and Federal Immission Control Act (BImSchG).
- Skilled at utilizing CAD software (preferred Solidworks).
- Domain experience in analysis and simulation tools such as material selection, FMEA, FEA, CFD, ensuring the reliability of products.
- Fluent in English, with German skills being a significant advantage.
